Pay - Competitive Definition Promotes health and wellness in the community through the provision of professional nursing care at HealthWorks for Northern Virginia including patient triage, direct patient care and patient education. Works as a collaborative member of HealthWorks' executive team contributing to planning and implementation of HW policies and procedures.

Provides coordination of care, oversees the smooth day-to-day operations as it affects the clinical staff and clinical services. Provides overall supervision of the nursing staff. Roles & Responsibilities Works under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer as a member of the nurse leadership team.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical - For teaching and training of Deputy Nurse Manager, Charge Nurses, Care Coordinator team and nursing staff: Assessing patient needs based upon physical exam and health history. Performing diagnostic tests as ordered by the provider staff. Administering medications and vaccines as ordered by the provider staff or as indicated by standing orders and protocols.

Acts in the capacity of the triage nurse or floor nurse when needed. Provides health and wellness education for all patients delivered in a culturally competent manner. Assists clinical teams with management of high-risk patients and emergencies.

Advises and assists referral staff on necessary referrals to community resources. Obtains vital signs and brief history from patients in an accurate and consistent manner. Responds in an appropriate manner to any abnormal vitals.

Performs patient care techniques as assigned in an effective manner and in accordance with the provider treatment plan. Educates patients and patients' family members on the patient's diagnoses within scope of knowledge and authority. Administrative Performs various duties to ensure quality patient care, excellent patient flow, and efficiency of operations within the nursing department.

Participates in Center projects, initiatives, trainings and/or committees as requested. Monitors medical supplies orders to ensure that the departments have the appropriate materials to provide efficient and effective service. Completes appropriate paperwork in a legible manner.

Performs chart audits as directed by the CMO and in an accurate fashion. Ensures that appropriate consent forms are signed, and reviews forms associated with different programs to ensure that all paperwork is in order and up to date. Serves as clinical staff resource in dealing with patient triage and other difficult patient issues that may arise.

Serves as clinical staff resource and works closely with Associate Director of Operations to make daily decisions regarding patient/provider scheduling issues that arise. Ensures that excellent patient flow is maintained by maintaining awareness of all the provider schedules. Troubleshoots daily issues that arise concerning medical equipment and supplies.

Participates in Quality Improvement Program and does quality monitoring as assigned. Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and collaborates with the Director of Quality & Risk with ongoing risk managements initiatives. Implements and maintains nursing staff competence.

Implements and overseas nursing peer review system. Is proficient in documentation and use of the EMR, eClinical Works, (eCW). Is willing and able to assist other clinical staff as needed in the use of eCW.

Assists in development of orientation program as directed and serves as a preceptor to newly hired clinical staff. In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources to coordinate MA and nursing student rotations. Supervises preparation of monthly nursing schedules (helps and advises when needed).

Responsible for administering and monitoring the patient vaccination program to include both private and state funded vaccines for HealthWorks. Supervisory Supervises and oversees Deputy Nurse Manager, Charge Nurses, Care Coordinator team, and clinical staff. Assists with the evaluations of nursing and clinical staff.

Responsible for new Charge Nurse staff orientation. Responsible for keeping forms current and assists the nursing staff in their use. Responsible for ensuring that equipment and supplies are in stock and updated.

Prepares written reports as needed reflecting nursing activities/progress. Participates as a member of clinical/management committees as designated by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer. Acts as a mentor/coach to the nursing staff.

Implements and oversees nursing peer review system. Implements and maintains nursing staff competence. .
