Job description

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a talented Planner that will support ongoing construction operations within a local VA healthcare facility.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

The pay for this position will range from $33/hr to $38/hr. The benefits included in this position are: 11 paid federal holidays per year, 80 hours of annual accrued PTO, and medical, health, dental, life insurance, short term disability, long term disability, and critical illness.

This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist VA staff with the preparation and ongoing maintenance of the Project Management Plan, Construction Management Plan, and Risk Management Plan.
  • Provide mini master planning services for specific functional areas, clinical service lines, and campus buildings.
  • Develop space planning documents, layouts, equipment lists, and project cost estimates.
  • Use AutoCAD and/or Revit to develop project programming documents.
  • Participate in Project Development Integrated Process Teams (IPTs).
  • Facilitate the development of technical documents required for procurement packages.
  • Conduct existing conditions assessments and space utilization analyses to support planning efforts.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff, facility leadership, engineering, and project stakeholders to define space and functional requirements.
  • Prepare architectural programming documents in accordance with VA design criteria, federal standards, and applicable healthcare planning guidelines.
  • Evaluate facility operations and workflows to support efficient space utilization and patient care delivery.
  • Review design documents for compliance with approved programming requirements and project objectives.
  • Assist in developing phased occupancy and decanting plans to support renovations while maintaining ongoing clinical operations.
  • Support capital planning initiatives by identifying facility deficiencies, future space needs, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and design reviews, documenting planning decisions and action items.
  • Coordinate planning activities with architects, engineers, consultants, and government stakeholders throughout project development.
  • Maintain planning documentation, databases, and project records in accordance with VA policies and contract requirements.

Qualifications

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • US Citizenship is Required.
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Preferred.
  • In lieu of a qualifying degree, an additional six (6) years of relevant planning experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare planning, Preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare or clinical environments, procurement processes, and contract support services.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
