Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Engineer - Remote for a contract position with a Leading Pharmacy Benefit Manager located in MN. This is a 5+ month contract opportunity.
Compensation: $95.00 - $110.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview
This position is responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, support, and architecture of existing systems and platforms. The Data Engineer will ensure technology solutions are designed to meet resiliency, stability, and operational readiness use cases while providing thought leadership to champion data management strategies for real-time data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure technology solutions are designed to meet resiliency, stability, non-functional, functional, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Oversee ongoing development, maintenance, and support of existing systems and platforms.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT and streaming data pipelines using Apache Beam, Apache Airflow, Google Cloud Dataflow, Google Cloud Composer, Python, Java, and SQL.
  • Experience developing and supporting real-time data pipelines using Apache Kafka.
  • Develop and optimize cloud-based data storage solutions using Google Cloud Storage and Google BigQuery.
  • Provide thought leadership and champion software engineering best practices, innovative solutioning, and Agile and DevOps best practices.
  • Participate in staffing plans to identify subject matter experts (SMEs) and provide feedback for staff performance reviews.
  • Own technology solutions within area, including proactive monitoring and alerting, technology roadmap planning, communication of overall platform health, and future sustainability.
  • Partner with Architecture, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure excellence in solution design and evolution of systems architecture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Primary Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 8+ years of experience in application development, software engineering, or data engineering.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data pipelines and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform technologies including Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, Dataplex, and Apache Beam.
  • Programming experience with Python, Java, and SQL.
  • Experience building and supporting orchestration workflows using Apache Airflow and/or Google Cloud Composer.
  • Proven experience with multiple development and support methodologies.
  • Ability to manage work direction and lead, influence, mentor, and provide feedback to others within the team.
  • Ability to drive innovation and think strategically.
  • Excellent written, technical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Established presenter of technical and non-technical material adapted to various audiences.
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts into comprehensive technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and business analysis skills.
  • Strong decision-making and judgment.
  • Excellent documentation skills.

Desired Skills
  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Certifications in cloud and data technologies, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
  • Relevant ETL or data engineering certifications.
  • Experience with Confluent Kafka libraries or Apache Kafka for streaming data integration
  • Support enterprise data governance and metadata management using Google Dataplex.
  • Experience working in environments with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.).
  • Previous experience working in an Agile/Product Delivery model.
  • Understanding of security implications within cloud and data platforms.
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience developing dashboards or reporting solutions using Google Looker Studio and/or IBM Cognos.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare, PBM, or financial services industries.
