Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Azure Database Architect with 18+ years of overall IT experience and extensive expertise in Azure database technologies, Data Lakes, Databricks, and enterprise data architecture.

The Azure Database Architect will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, administration, security, and optimization of enterprise-scale data platforms in Microsoft Azure. The role will have a strong focus on Azure Data Lakehouse architecture, Azure Databases, Databricks, and integrated enterprise data repositories.

The architect will work closely with application, infrastructure, security, and data engineering teams to modernize data platforms, optimize data workflows, establish secure and reliable data solutions, and support enterprise data-driven initiatives.

This is a senior-level role requiring strong architecture and hands-on technical expertise, along with the ability to mentor architects, database administrators, and database/data engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and implement scalable Azure database, Data Lake, and Data Lakehouse solutions.
  • Support modernization and transformation of enterprise data platforms and data-driven services.
  • Design and manage relational and non-relational database solutions in Azure.
  • Develop enterprise data models, schemas, indexing strategies, and optimized data-access patterns.
  • Design and support Azure Databricks and Data Lakehouse architectures.
  • Recommend appropriate Azure data platforms, technologies, and tools based on business and technical requirements.
  • Design and implement data transformation, ingestion, and cloud infrastructure integration solutions.
  • Develop and support programs/scripts for loading and transforming data using Azure data utilities.
  • Ensure enterprise data assets are properly structured, accessible, secure, reliable, and optimized.
  • Establish database security using RBAC, encryption, network security, and Azure security best practices.
  • Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, geo-replication, and high-availability strategies.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, capacity, availability, and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain technical architecture, database, security, operational, and support documentation.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and engineering teams to meet enterprise security and compliance requirements.
  • Support automation and CI/CD pipelines for database and data-platform deployments.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to architects, DBAs, and data engineers.
