The Sr. Data Engineer, Microsoft Fabric & Power BI is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the enterprise data infrastructure that powers business intelligence across IP Corporation. This role combines data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence development to transform operational and manufacturing data into trusted, actionable insights.

Working closely with the Data Architect and business stakeholders, this individual will develop scalable data pipelines, manage Microsoft Fabric data environments, and create impactful Power BI dashboards that support informed decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is passionate about modern data platforms, industrial data integration, and building enterprise solutions that enable data-driven business outcomes.

What You Can Expect to Do as a Sr. Data Engineer, Microsoft Fabric & Power BI:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that extract data from operational technology (OT) systems, including historians, SCADA systems, PLCs, and OPC UA sources.
  • Build robust ingestion pipelines that support both batch and near real-time data processing into Microsoft Fabric.
  • Land, transform, cleanse, and model enterprise data within OneLake, Lakehouse, and Warehouse environments.
  • Optimize data pipelines for reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency, monitoring and troubleshooting pipeline performance while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and enterprise reporting solutions, including optimized DAX measures and data models that support self-service analytics.
  • Establish reporting standards, visualization best practices, and reusable reporting assets.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translate business questions into actionable analytics, and continuously improve reporting capabilities that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft Fabric components including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows, and Pipelines, working closely with the Data Architect to expand the ecosystem and ensure solutions follow Microsoft Fabric best practices and architectural standards.
  • Support enterprise data governance initiatives, including metadata management, security, lineage, and access controls, and assist with implementation of Microsoft Purview and other governance tools as needed.
  • Collaborate with IT, manufacturing, operations, engineering, and business teams, participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, support data integration projects across manufacturing and ERP platforms, and document technical solutions, data models, and pipeline architecture.

What We Are Looking For in a Sr. Data Engineer, Microsoft Fabric & Power BI:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five (5) or more years of experience designing and supporting enterprise data solutions.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including Data Factory, OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and related platform components.
  • Advanced experience developing Power BI semantic models, dashboards, reports, and DAX calculations.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience designing relational and dimensional data models.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar technologies.
  • Experience integrating data from operational technology (OT) systems including historians, SCADA systems, PLCs, OPC UA, or similar industrial data sources.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud-based data engineering principles, data architecture, data governance, and business intelligence best practices.
  • Ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure enterprise data solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and data quality.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, working independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, industrial automation, or process manufacturing environments, including ERP integrations and enterprise business applications, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview or other enterprise data governance platforms, Microsoft Azure, enterprise security, lineage, metadata and access management strategies, real-time or streaming data architectures, and Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Engineering, or Power BI certifications preferred.
