Core Responsibilities

Ambulatory Quality Measure Tracking & Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) [4]

  • MIPS & eCQM Mapping: Build, validate, and test electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs) specifically for MIPS Quality, Promoting Interoperability, and Improvement Activities performance categories.
  • Preventive Care Workflows: Design and optimize EHR documentation pathways to ensure Clinical Staff and providers seamlessly capture required quality data during outpatient encounters (e.g., cancer screenings, immunizations, depression screenings).
  • Payer & ACO Metrics: Align EHR data capture with Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and commercial payer incentive programs (e.g., HEDIS measures).
  • Data Auditing & Validation: Conduct regular audits of ambulatory clinical documentation to identify data gaps, ensuring that clinical interventions are correctly coded for automated reporting.

Clinic Support, Training, and Practice Transformation [21]

  • Interdisciplinary Liaison: Serve as the main translator between Outpatient Quality Assurance committees, clinic operational managers, and the technical IT system analyst team.
  • On-Site Change Management: Deliver targeted training and workflow support to clinic providers and staff during system upgrades, new program rollouts, or when addressing quality metric deficiencies.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and update workflow documentation and user guides specific to ambulatory roles (Providers, Nurses, Medical Assistants, Front Desk).

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 3 years of experience in an outpatient or ambulatory clinical setting.
    • Health informatics or clinical EHR system configuration experience preferred.

Technical & Specialized Knowledge

  • Ambulatory EHR Proficiency: Deep build, implementation, or optimization experience with a major ambulatory EHR system (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, Oracle Cerner Ambulatory, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Athenahealth.
  • Outpatient Regulations: Experience with ambulatory regulatory frameworks, including MIPS, MACRA, HEDIS, and Primary Care First or similar value-based care models.
  • Healthcare Data Standards: Familiarity with health data vocabularies used in ambulatory billing and tracking (such as CPT, ICD-10-CM, SNOMED-CT, LOINC, and RxNorm).
  • Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations, as well as exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and or 10 pounds of force frequently, or negligible constantly. Walking or standing to a significant degree, or sitting constantly, and pushing/pulling controls
