Healthcare Devops information

How does a Healthcare DevOps professional typically collaborate with clinical and IT teams to improve system reliability?

As a Healthcare DevOps professional, you will regularly work with both clinical staff and IT teams to ensure healthcare applications and systems are reliable, secure, and compliant with regulations. Collaboration often involves gathering feedback from clinicians to understand workflow needs, working alongside IT to automate deployments and monitor system health, and bridging communication gaps to quickly resolve incidents. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for maintaining uptime, optimizing performance, and delivering high-quality patient care through technology.

What is Healthcare DevOps?

Healthcare DevOps refers to the application of DevOps practices and principles in the healthcare industry to improve the development, deployment, and management of healthcare software systems. By integrating development (Dev) and operations (Ops) teams, healthcare organizations can accelerate the delivery of secure, compliant, and reliable healthcare applications and services. This approach helps ensure better patient care, streamlined workflows, and enhanced data security while adhering to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Healthcare DevOps also supports automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) to foster innovation and reduce errors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Healthcare DevOps professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Healthcare DevOps professional, you need solid experience in software development, systems administration, and a strong understanding of healthcare compliance requirements like HIPAA. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and healthcare IT systems such as EHRs is typically required, along with relevant certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills are crucial for bridging the gap between IT, development, and healthcare stakeholders. These skills ensure secure, efficient, and compliant deployment of healthcare applications, directly impacting patient care and data integrity.

We are looking for a DevOps / SRE Engineer to help us architect, automate, and scale our enterprise API Gateway (Apigee) platform. In this role, you won't just keep the lights on; you will treat infrastructure as software, building the self-service tooling and resilient systems that empower thousands of developers worldwide to ship code safely and instantly.

Experience Required5+ Years of experience in relevant fieldLead the evolution of our API Gateway infrastructure. Design and build automated CI/CD pipelines and reusable Terraform modules to make API deployments fast, secure, and entirely self-service. Bring a true SRE mindset to our platform. You will design self-healing architectures, establish robust SLOs/SLIs, and implement deep observability to detect and mitigate anomalies before they affect our customers. Write Code to Solve Infrastructure Problems: Develop clean, maintainable platform tooling and custom operators (primarily in Go and Terraform) to automate complex operational tasks and integrate our gateway with the broader ecosystem. Collaborate Globally (with Real Work-Life Balance): Participate in a highly structured, healthy "follow-the-sun" on-call rotation (currently 1 week out of every 10).
