This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Health Promotion & Basic Needs within the Wellness and Recreation Services department. The Health Promotion and Basic Needs Senior Coordinator is responsible for mobilizing and sustaining inclusive campus-wide initiatives and programs related to mental health, basic needs, health promotion, and overall well-being. This position will support the following programs: Milo's Market Student Food Pantry, Swipe Out Hunger, Peer Health Education, Financial Wellness, and general basic needs resource support. The Health Promotion and Basic Needs Senior Coordinator is responsible for mobilizing and sustaining inclusive campus-wide initiatives and programs related to mental health, basic needs, health promotion, and overall well-being.
This position is responsible for supporting a culture of well-being, holistic support, and active engagement on the CU Denver Campus. They will collaborate with professional staff within Wellness & Recreation Services and throughout campus. This position works closely with the Health Center at Auraria, the Student and Community Counseling Center, the Office of Case Management, The Phoenix Center at Auraria, Student Life, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and community partners. They will also establish and supervise the Peer Health Education Program and the operations of the wellness suite within the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center. This position will also schedule and supervise student Wellness Associates who support Milo's Market and wellness suite operations.
Senior Coordinator of Health Promotion & Engagement
What you will do:
Organize and facilitate student engagement activities and outreach for health promotion and basic needs across campus and within the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center focusing on issues regarding mental health, financial insecurity, drug and alcohol misuse prevention, harm reduction, and stress management
Hire, train, advise, and supervise wellness center student employees in the Healthy Lynx Associate and Wellness Associate positions
Create and maintain relationships with units across campus to promote student involvement, engagement, and resource utilization
Provide oversight and management of CU Denver's Food Pantry - Milo's Market, supervising student staff, overseeing day-to-day operations, and collaborating with the Assistant Director on strategic planning, partnerships, and engagement
Serve as the primary Basic Needs contact, answering student questions, growing and updating resource libraries, maintaining current collaborations and pursuing additional partnerships to best support student basic needs
Oversee the Swipe Out Hunger program through application review, meal swipe coordination, and review of the shared inbox
Provide oversight and leadership of the Wellness Suite operations including Milo's Market, Nap Room, Reflection Room and Basic Needs Resource Center.
Maintain Civil Rights Training and Food Safety Training Certificates through the Food Bank of the Rockies
Manage and develop the learning outcomes and operations of the Healthy Lynx Peer Education program to expand peer health education across campus
Collaborate with the Student Conduct and Community Standards office to develop and lead sanctioned alcohol and cannabis class to students in violation of the Student Code of Conduct
Review, develop and manage program budget and operating expenses and report to Assistant Director
In partnership with the Assistant Director, conduct the National College Health Assessment every two years in accordance with established procedures, compiling the results, and presenting the data to the university community and stakeholders.
Compile and maintain data for the Biennial Report for the Department of Higher Education on substance free school zones, as part of a comprehensive campus-wide prevention as directed by the Assistant Director and Executive Director
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in health education/ health promotion, community/public health, exercise science, psychology, education, or a related field or master's level coursework in the health education or social work field
Two (2) years' experience in case management, public health, health education, student affairs, or a similar area
CPR/AED Certification, or able to receive one within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
Master's degree in student affairs, health education/health promotion, psychology, social work, public health, or other health-related field; or pursuit of Master's degree in applicable area.
CHES Certification
Experience creating and facilitating educational workshops and events
Experience working with peer educators/wellness educators
Experience providing case management and/or resource support to college students
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong commitment to working with diverse student populations
Ability to develop and maintain collaborations with other campus constituents
Ability to assess high-risk situations and apply critical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal skills including both oral and written communication
Demonstrated communication skills that contribute to effective collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
Ability to identify the learning needs of the college student population and develop educational materials that are relevant to support learning outcomes in that identified population
Knowledge of health education and/or promotion
Knowledge of health psychology and behavior change
Knowledge of data collection, analysis, and program evaluation
Ability to hire, schedule, evaluation and manage student staff
Ability to work in a collaborative, integrated wellness and recreation work environment
Knowledge, or willingness to learn, and work in all areas of wellness and recreation
Conditions of Employment
Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
This position may be performed in a hybrid or remote environment, requiring the ability to work effectively in a remote setting. Employees must be able to independently manage time, remain stationary for prolonged computer-based work, and transport necessary equipment (such as a laptop and peripherals) between their remote work location and the office as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $56,340 - $59,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
