Physician Assistant – Gastroenterology
Location: CA (rotating coverage at designated locations) Employment Type: Full-time Salary: $125,000/year, paid biweekly
About the Role
We're seeking a licensed Physician Assistant to join our gastroenterology practice on a full-time basis. You'll be part of a collaborative care team supporting a busy GI practice across multiple hospital affiliations, working under physician supervision.
Schedule
Core hours: 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM, Monday–Friday (schedule might vary)
May include holidays, Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings as needed for patient care
Weekend call coverage can be required, rotated equitably among PA staff
Hospital active-staff obligations at designated facilities
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional medical services within GI specialty scope
Provide patient care and perform all related and derivative clinical duties, under the supervision of a physician
Provide consults to requesting physicians
Maintain timely, accurate medical and billing records; review billings under your name/provider number and flag errors
Supervise and review care rendered by non-PA staff involved in direct patient care
Participate in compliance programs, peer review, and administrative/medical education duties as assigned
Maintain active staff privileges at designated hospitals: White Memorial Medical Center, Beverly Hospital, Monterey Park Hospital, East Los Angeles Doctor's Hospital
Cooperate with billing/compliance requirements tied to payor contracts (HMOs, PPOs, IPAs, MSOs, etc.)

Required Certifications & Qualifications
NCCPA Certification — Must have passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) / hold current NCCPA certification.
California PA License — Must be licensed or become licensed to practice as a PA in California
NPI Number — Must have an active National Provider Identifier (NPI) for billing and provider identification purposes.
DEA Registration — Active DEA controlled substance registration in California required and must be maintained throughout employment (at candidate's own expense).
Board Eligibility/Certification — Must maintain board eligibility or certification unless waived in writing by employer.
Hospital Privileges — Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff membership/privileges at the four designated hospitals listed above.
Payor Credentialing — Must be eligible (or become eligible) for credentialing with the practice's managed care contracts (HMOs, PPOs, IPAs, MSOs, etc.); at least 75% of practice patient coverage eligibility expected within 6 months.
