Summary

Analyzes medical records for missing documentation and signatures. Compares the documentation in the medical record against required standards and notes deficiencies for providers.

Job Description

Recognizes the relation of accurate deficiencies to provider suspension. Contributes to the medical staff timeliness and suspension regulations through accurate notation and monitoring of deficiencies in the medical record. Utilizes job specific software in analysis and monitoring functions. Extensive use of the electronic health record. Applies knowledge of disease processes, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, Joint Commission (JCAHO), state laws, and other regulatory standards in the analysis of the medical record.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Health Information or Medical Record Technology required.
In lieu of education requirement, may consider the equivalent of two years of Health Information Management (HIM) or revenue cycle experience.
One year of health information or revenue cycle experience in health care required.
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
