Summary of Job Duties:
We're looking for a Child Caregiver to come and join our team! We are a fun and loving group of people who love working with children. We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, and has a lot of energy. If you are looking for a fun and rewarding job, then UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start is the place for you!
Qualifications:
  • HS diploma/GED.
  • At least 6 months of experience working directly with preschool-age children (0-5) in a child-related atmosphere.
  • Lift 40 pounds to chest level, able to bend, stand, walk, see, hear, drive, speak, and able to do repetitious movements.
  • Must be enrolled or registered for a CDA class or in an Early Childhood class at an accredited college and fulfill the requirements as required for CDA/course completion.

Responsibilities:
  • Models appropriate language and behavior for children and parents in all situations.
  • Guides learning through discovery in the environment.
  • Utilizes curriculum for developing age-appropriate activities.
  • Adheres to the Lesson Plan and class schedule as listed in the classroom.
  • Listens to the children and to the parents.
  • Assesses children's development levels of learning and plans activities in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Works cooperatively with other staff to ensure that the children's needs are met inside and outside the classroom.
  • Ensures that the learning environment is safe for Head Start/Early Head Start children.
  • Performs other duties to ensure program standards are met.
