Head of Operations (Cosmetics OEM / ODM)

Location: North of Burbank, CA

Full-time

Position Overview

The Head of Operation is responsible for managing the cosmetic contract manufacturing facility including all aspects of Operations including production, procurement, warehouse, maintenance, sanitation, quality control and distribution.  Develop KPI’s for all departments to measure performance.  Evaluate new equipment proposals and approve purchases in line with capital budget for efficiency and quality requirements. 

    Job Description
    • Oversee budgets and projects to ensure corporate goals are met and projects completed on time.
    • Lead teams to control capital budgets including equipment/technology evaluations, cost estimates, justification (ROI, quality issues, safety concerns), timelines, vendor relationships, onsite contractors, and process optimization.
    • Improve batch yields by minimizing downtime due to lack of materials.
    • Improve personnel efficiency to minimize headcount.
    • Develop SOP’s for all plant operations.
    • Develop training plans so all critical roles have backup plans.
    • Knowledge and ability to work with permitting agencies (fire, water, stormwater, waste).
    • Knowledge and proven track record of OTC facility certification.
    • Responsible for facility safety plan.
    • Improve labor calculations model for pricing template to provide more accurate quotes to actual manufacturing costs.
    • Reduce total manufacturing overhead.
    • Work with R&D to utilize existing equipment or determine needs for new equipment to produce new and innovative products.
    • Lead teams to perform equipment validations (IQ/OQ) and new products (PQ) in compliance with FDA requirements and regulations.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
    • MBA preferred
    • 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in cosmetics OEM/ODM or contract manufacturing
    • Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and OTC manufacturing requirements
    • Proven experience managing large-scale operations and cross-functional teams
    • Experience with capital projects, equipment validation, and process optimization
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent leadership and communication abilities

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience in cosmetic, personal care, or OTC manufacturing environments
    • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audits, and certifications
    • Background in scaling manufacturing operations and improving efficiency
