Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Insurance. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing and growing New York Life Investment's third party insurance business. Drawing upon capabilities across both public and private markets, this position involves delivering customized solutions that align with clients' return objectives, risk tolerance, regulatory requirements, capital considerations, and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Partnership Development: Define and implement a comprehensive business development and partnership strategy to drive impactful results. Identify and prioritize key existing and new partnership opportunities that align with our investment strategies.
  • Client Engagement and Advisory: Serve as the primary liaison for insurance clients, providing insights into industry trends and regulatory changes. Develop and present tailored investment strategies that meet clients' specific needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including portfolio managers, asset sector specialists, and the client groups to ensure cohesive strategy implementation and client satisfaction.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of global insurance regulatory frameworks and industry developments. Represent the firm at industry conferences, work across the enterprise to raise the firm's profile externally by generating opportunities to contribute to industry publications engage with media outlets to enhance the firm's reputation as an innovative insurance solutions provider.
  • Industry Networking: Build and maintain an extensive network of contacts across the third party insurance market and relevant consultant communities to grow the New York Life Investment's brand and a robust pipeline of new business opportunities. . Maintain meaningful relationships to stay informed about key trends and industry developments.

Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in the insurance industry and asset management.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance company balance sheets, financial analysis, and regulatory environments, including U.S. and international frameworks.
  • Proficiency in fixed income and equity investments, both public and private, particularly regarding their roles within insurance portfolios under various regulatory regimes.
  • Proven ability to guide and work with portfolio teams in the development of customized investment portfolios tailored for insurance clients.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts to a range of stakeholders.

This role is pivotal in positioning the firm as a leader in providing innovative investment solutions to the insurance sector, ensuring that clients' unique requirements are met with expertise and strategic insight.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $200,000 - $300,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: No
Sales bonus eligible: Yes
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
