Who You'll Work With:
The Senior Associate, Credit Manager will be part of a team focused on building the correspondent network sourcing channel and investment strategy for AB CarVal U.S. loan portfolios. This role will be responsible for assessing and managing credit risk associated with loan portfolios sourced through correspondent networks. The role includes monitoring credit quality, evaluating the credit worthiness of potential borrowers, analyzing financial data, and determining appropriate credit limits and terms. The role ensures compliance with credit policies and guidelines, monitoring portfolio performance. This role will also be responsible for communicating and partnering closely with other internal stakeholders across a range of AB CarVal residential strategies, sourcing channels and organizational functions.
This position will report to the Director, Investment Operations. The role will be located in Minnesota.
What You'll Do:
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining underwriting guidelines and credit criteria
  • Develop and implement while collaborating with internal functions the mortgage originator onboarding and diligence process
  • Partner to assess, manage, and monitor credit risk associated with loan portfolio sourced through correspondent networks.
  • Evaluate creditworthiness of potential borrows by analyzing financial data, credit reports, and other relevant information.
  • Partner to determine appropriate credit limits, terms, and conditions for investments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams across various functions to ensure compliance with credit policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain the due diligence review process of all loans sourced via the correspondent networks.
  • On an ongoing basis, monitor portfolio performance and conduct regular credit reviews to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the organization's interests and optimize investment returns.
  • Develop and maintain quality control review process including direct communication with third party vendors to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making related to investment opportunities and portfolio management. Communicate regularly with senior management and internal stakeholders to provide updates
  • Continuously improve credit risk assessment processes and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk management in the mortgage or banking industries.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis techniques, scoring models, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Demonstrated strong analytic skills and the ability to evaluate financial data.
  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel including financial modeling and analysis
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization and detail orientation skills.

In accordance with applicable law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:
Base Salary Range: $110,000 to $155,000
Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB CarVal, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards.
