Job description

Head of Capital Markets

Rippling New York, New York, United States

About this positionAbout Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third‑party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America’s best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @ Rippling.com addresses.

About the role

Rippling is a global fintech operating across software, payments, and lending, moving $100Bn+ across payroll, cards, and payment products. Capital Markets is the foundation that enables our lending business to scale - securing the financing capacity and managing the capital that allows Rippling’s financial products to grow without constraint.

This is Rippling’s founding Capital Markets hire, reporting into our VP, Payments & Financial Services. You will define and execute the capital markets strategy from the ground up, owning both the debt financing program that funds Rippling’s lending products and the investment strategy for Rippling’s corporate and customer cash. You will set the capital markets strategy end to end - expanding Rippling’s financing capacity and managing how corporate and customer capital is deployed as the business scales.

You will own deal sourcing and execution, ongoing lender and investor relationships and reporting end to end. You will collaborate with Legal, Finance, Risk, and Product as needed to structure and close transactions.

What You’ll Do
  • Define Capital Markets Strategy: Set the roadmap for expanding Rippling’s financing capacity - evaluating new structures, monitoring market opportunities, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build and Manage Capital Markets Relationships: Serve as Rippling’s primary point of contact with lenders, institutional investors, banks, and rating agencies.
  • Source and Execute Financing Transactions: Identify new financing opportunities, structure facilities, and lead negotiations through close across warehouse lines, securitizations, whole loan sales, and forward flow agreements.
  • Own Capital Markets Reporting: Produce all lender-facing reporting - servicer reporting, covenant compliance, and portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with Legal, Finance, and Risk on deal structuring, documentation, and closing. Own the counterparty relationship and deal outcome throughout.
  • Manage Investment Strategy: Own the deployment strategy for Rippling’s corporate treasury and customer float, balancing yield, liquidity, and risk objectives.
  • Build Scalable Infrastructure: Establish the processes, reporting frameworks, and analytical tooling for the Capital Markets function.
What You’ll Need
  • 8+ years of experience in capital markets, structured finance, or debt capital markets - prior experience at a fintech is required.
  • Deep expertise in ABS/securitization, warehouse lending, and structured finance, with a track record of structuring and executing transactions from inception through closing.
  • Proven experience managing institutional lenders, investors, banks through sourcing, negotiating, closing, and ongoing management.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with rating agency processes, including managing diligence, surveillance, and ongoing agency relationships.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills - able to build and own cash flow models, portfolio analytics, and performance reporting.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy in an unstructured environment. This is a founding role with no existing playbook.
  • Proficiency in G-Suite and AI tools, with demonstrated ability to leverage AI agents to automate workflows, analysis, and reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - able to present deal terms, strategy, and performance clearly to executive leadership and external counterparties.
  • Experience managing corporate treasury or cash investment strategy.
