Summary:


The Machine Learning Developer is responsible for the design, training and optimization of machine learning models for research and production, ensuring they are scalable, accurate, and reliable. They build and manage data pipelines, including cleaning, preprocessing, and augmenting datasets to improve performance. The role also involves experimenting with models, applying machine learning methods to solve business problems, collaborating with teams, and communicating results to stakeholders.


The Machine Learning Developerwill report directly to the Manager, Research and Strategic Data Analysis.


Location:Clearway's Head Office - Maple, ON.

Hours of Operations:8:00 am to 5:00 pm


As a heavy civil contractor, Clearway's workforce requirements can fluctuate with project schedules and anticipated contract awards. We are currently seeking skilled candidates to join our team and encourage qualified applicants to submit their application.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, train, and optimize machine learning models for production and research applications
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines for preprocessing, feature engineering, and validation
  • Clean, label, and preprocess datasets for model training and evaluation
  • Build dataset augmentation and preprocessing workflows to improve model performance
  • Take ownership of machine learning models from development through deployment and ongoing maintenance
  • Conduct experiments to analyze relationships between features and improve model performance
  • Research and implement statistical and machine learning methods to solve business problems
  • Improve existing text classification and computer vision models for accuracy, robustness, and reliability
  • Communicate and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate using version control systems (e.g., Git) to maintain structured and efficient development workflows
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards
  • Contribute to team discussions and continuous improvement of engineering and ML workflows


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • Proficiency in writing clean, well-documented Python code
  • Familiarity with data manipulation, analysis, and cleaning using Pandas and NumPy
  • Interest in machine learning and applications in the construction industry
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada - no work permit sponsorship available for this position
