The Position:
  • We are looking for a Preschool / Head Start VPK Teacher and Teacher Assistant who is energetic, compassionate, and passionate about working with young children.
  • Pay Range: Salary is based on experience and education
  • Our educators create nurturing, engaging classrooms where children develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
  • Head Start (3-5 year olds)  works 10 months, and Early Head Start (1-3 year olds) works 12 months.

Requirements:
  • Preferably an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 credits in Early Childhood Education.
  • Completion of DCF Child Care Introductory Training Requirements.
  • Experience working with young children in an early childhood setting.
  • Ability to pass FDLE Level 2 Background Screening.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Must be energetic and passionate about working with children.

Preferred Knowledge:
  • Experience working in Head Start and/or Early Head Start programs.
  • Knowledge of HighScope Curriculum and/or Creative Curriculum.
  • Familiarity with the Teachstone CLASS observation tool.
  • Understanding of the Pyramid Model for Social Emotional Development.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and organized classroom environment.
  • Teach foundational concepts, including letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and early literacy skills.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and healthy self-esteem.
  • Use creative teaching strategies such as storytelling, music, dramatic play, and arts and crafts.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, transitions, and outdoor play.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
  • Prepare materials and organize classroom learning centers.
  • Observe and document children’s developmental progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about children’s development and daily activities.
