Job description

At Range, we're building towards a world where anyone can live the financial life they imagine for themselves. If that sounds like a mission you want to be a part of, let's create it together.
We're building AI-powered wealth management. Investments, taxes, retirement, estate planning, all in one platform instead of scattered across different advisors and apps. We're backed by Google's Gradient Ventures, Cathay Innovation, Scale Venture Partners, and more. We're growing fast while still small enough that everyone's work is visible and impactful.
Head of Investment Operations
Range is creating AI-powered solutions to eliminate financial complexity for our members. We're transforming wealth management through the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and human expertise. We're obsessed with member experience! We've built an integrated platform that tackles the full spectrum of financial needs-investments, taxes, retirement planning, and estate management-all unified in one intuitive system.
Backed by Google's Gradient Ventures and Cathay Innovations, we're in hyper-growth mode and looking for exceptional talent to join our starting lineup. Every Ranger at this stage is shaping our culture and operating model, and this role will play a foundational part in how we scale our investment platform for the long term.
About the role
As Head of Investment Operations, you will own and scale the end-to-end investment operations function at Range. This is a leadership role responsible for building the operational backbone that supports our AI-powered wealth management platform as we grow in complexity, volume, and regulatory responsibility.
You will lead investment operations strategy, manage and grow a high-performing team, and oversee a critical business function at Range. This role sits at the intersection of technology, compliance, and client experience - partnering closely with Planning, Investments, Product, and Compliance to automate workflows, eliminate operational friction, and ensure a best-in-class investment experience for our members.
We're excited to hire this role at Range's Headquarters in McLean, VA or in our New York City office. All of our positions follow an in-office schedule Monday through Friday, allowing you to collaborate directly with your team. If you're not currently based in one of these areas but love what you see, let's discuss relocation options as part of your journey to joining us.
What you'll do with us
  • Scale and lead Investment Operations by building processes, systems, and teams that support rapid asset growth while maintaining accuracy, reliability, and regulatory excellence.
  • Own broker-dealer operational leadership, including trading, custody, reconciliation, account lifecycle management, and operational risk oversight.
  • Drive automation and operational efficiency, partnering with Engineering and Product to eliminate manual processes and embed scalable workflows directly into the Range platform.
  • Set operational strategy and KPIs, using data to measure performance, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve investment operations outcomes.
  • Ensure regulatory and compliance alignment, collaborating with Compliance and Legal to support AML, trading controls, audits, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and develop a high-impact team, hiring, mentoring, and empowering investment operations leaders and individual contributors as the organization scales.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Client Services to launch new investment features, asset types, and capabilities with operational readiness from day one.

What will set you apart
  • 10+ years of experience in investment operations, brokerage operations, or wealth management, with senior leadership experience in a high-growth or technology-driven environment.
  • Deep familiarity with broker-dealer operations, including trading workflows, custodians, clearing, reconciliations, and operational controls.
  • Proven track record of scaling operations through automation, systems design, and process optimization-ideally in FinTech or digital wealth management.
  • Expertise in regulatory and operational risk management, including AML, supervision, and audit readiness.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience defining KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics for operational excellence.
  • FinTech or startup experience preferred

Benefits
  • Health & Wellness: 100% employer-covered medical insurance for employees (75% for dependents), plus dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k): Retirement savings program to support your future
  • Paid Time Off: Dedicated time to reset and recharge plus most federal holidays
  • Parental Leave: Comprehensive leave policy for growing families
  • Meals: Select meals covered throughout the week
  • Fitness: Monthly movement stipend
  • Equity & Career Growth: Early exercise eligibility and a strong focus on professional development
  • Annual Compensation Reviews: Salary and equity refreshes based on performance
  • Boomerang Program: After two years at Range, you can take time away to start your own company. We'll hold your spot for 6 months - and pause your equity vesting, which resumes if you return

Range is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. As a company, we are committed to designing products, building a culture, and supporting a team that reflects the diverse population we serve.
