Job description

Milacron is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager - Extrusion (Die Head & Tooling) to join our team in Batavia, OH. In this position, you will lead the engineering and technology function for the Extrusion Tooling business, with full ownership of die head design, tooling performance, and new product development. You will oversee engineering teams across the United States and work closely with the India Engineering Team to deliver reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective extrusion solutions.
Work You'll Do:
  • Provide overall technical ownership of extrusion tooling product lines, including die head design, tooling components, and system performance.
  • Lead and direct engineering teams across the U.S. and India, setting priorities, assigning work, and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Drive new product development efforts, including concept development, design, prototyping, validation, and production readiness.
  • Support production and field service by troubleshooting tooling and die head performance issues, implementing root cause solutions and long-term improvements.
  • Partner with sales, operations, manufacturing, and product management to support customer needs, improve product quality, and drive cost optimization initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Must Have:
    • 8+ years of engineering experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Strong experience with plastic extrusion processing, extrusion machinery, and die head/tooling design.
    • Working knowledge of polymer behavior, melt flow, and extrusion performance.
    • Experience supporting full product development lifecycle, including new product development and sustaining engineering.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in structured methods (root cause analysis, 8D, etc.).
    • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Nice to Have:
    • MBA or advanced business degree.
    • Experience with DTV, VAVE, or cost optimization initiatives.
    • Experience with CAD tools such as Creo, Windchill, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
    • Experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS or CFD software.
    • Experience working with global teams and multi-site engineering organizations.
