Job description

Since opening in 2014, The Bonnie has been Astoria's favorite destination for craft cocktails, elevated bar food, beer garden-style outdoor drinking and private events. The ever-bustling bar prides itself on serving the best of drinks and tasty eats in a warm and inviting setting. We're looking for a head bartender to join our team! 

THE ROLE:
The head bartender will work along side our General Manager to oversee the beverage program at The Bonnie. We're looking for a natural leader, problem solver, multi-tasker, and a great communicator. This will be a hybrid role comprised of both bartending and floor management shifts. This team player will uphold The Bonnie's standards of excellence in all areas, including quality of service, product, and guest relations.


WHO YOU ARE:

  • 3+ years of NYC bartending experience with extensive knowledge of beer, wine, and cocktails
  • An approachable leader who is able to motivate a diverse team
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented and who appreciates and takes initiative on both the essential details and the bigger picture
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow-up and execution
  • NYC Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Full availability, including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to lift & carry at least 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending & standing)

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Work alongside the General Manager, assisting in overseeing the beverage program at The Bonnie
  • Help develop The Bonnie's cocktail program and seasonal menus
  • Manage all purchasing, inventory, and cost control of beer, wine, and liquor
  • Support management in maintaining compliance with all applicable DOH regulations
  • Behind the bar, anticipating and understanding the needs of guests and providing stellar service
  • Lead by example on the floor, reinforcing service standards and hospitality culture
  • Assist with floor management shifts as needed
  • Maintain and grow The Bonnie's culture, cultivating regulars and ensuring personalized, warm, and upbeat service
