Job description

Position Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machinery such as threading machines, presses, mills, lathes, drills, and saws. This role ensures that all equipment is operated according to established guidelines to meet production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards. The position requires a hands-on approach to production processes, including machine setup, part fabrication, and quality inspection, while promoting continuous improvement and operational excellence. The role requires strict adherence to instructions and ability to work efficiently under job specifications and timelines.


Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate and monitor various machines, including threaded machines, presses, mills, lathes, drills, and saws, to ensure smooth and efficient production.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to prevent machine downtime and ensure the machinery is in optimal working condition.
  • Set up machines for different jobs using standard operating procedures, tools, and existing job records.
  • Adjust machine settings, feeds, speeds, and tooling to meet production requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure proper machine calibration and accuracy for precision work.

Production & Quality Control

  • Produce high-quality components and parts in accordance with detailed specifications and blueprints.
  • Conduct regular quality checks using gauges, micrometers, and other measuring devices to ensure parts meet dimensional and tolerance standards.
  • Monitor machine performance and part quality throughout the production process.
  • Document quality inspections, production activities, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine and product defects to maintain quality standards.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Load and unload raw materials and parts for machining operations, ensuring correct materials are used for each job.
  • Ensure proper organization of tools, raw materials, and finished products within the designated areas.
  • Work with warehouse teams to manage inventory, track materials, and assist in periodic inventory counts.
  • Report any issues related to material quality, machine malfunctions, or delays to the supervisor for quick resolution.

Workplace Organization & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring compliance with all company and industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Follow all relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs), health and safety guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by safety protocols.
  • Support and promote a culture of safety and teamwork.
