Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for forming, cutting, and finishing plastic components using vacuum forming equipment and various machining tools. This position plays a critical role in ensuring precision and quality, as improper measurements or cuts can result in complete product loss. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with machinery and hand tools in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment to produce molded plastic components
  • Monitor gauges and machine settings during production runs
  • Remove products from molds and properly stage for cooling
  • Apply weights during cooling to prevent product distortion
  • Trim and cut flanges and formed plastic components to specification
  • Modify and cut roto-molded plastic pieces as required
  • Perform forming and cutting of components such as drip trays and related parts
  • Use routers (table and handheld), band saws, hand saws, drill presses, and shearing equipment
  • Read and interpret measurements, gauges, and basic blueprints
  • Utilize general hand tools such as wrenches and drills
  • Perform light maintenance on machinery, including oiling and general upkeep
  • Work with fixtures and forming tools
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE (eye protection, gloves, etc.)
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in machine operation, woodworking, plastics forming, or similar production environment
  • Experience operating routers, band saws, drill presses, shearing equipment, and hand tools
  • Ability to read gauges and accurately measure materials
  • Experience reading and interpreting basic blueprints preferred
  • Comfortable performing precision cuts and forming work
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Understanding of shop safety procedures and proper PPE use

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. independently (team lift required for items over 35 lbs)
  • Ability to lift and move forms stored in wooden crates
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to focus for prolonged periods
  • Comfortable working in an air-conditioned warehouse environment; areas near vacuum forming equipment may be warmer than typical warehouse settings (fans available for airflow)
