Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:  

To set-up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on Bakery department machinery. (Vernon facility) 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Will set-up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on machinery & equipment used in the manufacturing of bakery products. 
  • Will adjust machines to maximize production efficiency for the different bakery products. 
  • Will do daily safety inspections such as checking that guards are in place, no exposed wiring, safety stops are working, etc., and monitor production lines to ensure safe work conditions exist throughout the entire shift. 
  • Will accurately complete proper record keeping paperwork. 
  • Report any food safety or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. 
  • Follows J&J Snack Food's Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs). 
  • Follows all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:  

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Required Experience:   

  • Requires minimum 2 year's experience as a Machine Operator preferably in a food plant. 
  • Must be able to use a weight scale and calculator. 
  • Must be able to read & write basic English. 
  • Must be able to operate forklift and pallet jack. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
