Job description


The Department of Social Work & Gerontology at Georgian Court University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Social Work program. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, scholarship, service, and program development in a CSWE-accredited program grounded in Mercy core values, social justice, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

  • Teach BSW/ MSW courses (typical load: approximately 24 credit hours per academic year)
  • Deliver instruction across foundation and advanced practice areas (e.g., HBSE, practice methods, policy, research, clinical practice, and specialization courses)
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, cultural humility, and anti-oppressive frameworks into the curriculum
  • Advise and mentor BSW/MSW students throughout their academic progression

Scholarship & Professional Activity

  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda through research, publications, presentations, or community-engaged scholarship
  • Engage in professional development aligned with social work education and practice
  • Contribute to program visibility and academic excellence

Service & Program Support

  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees
  • Support CSWE accreditation activities, assessment, and continuous program improvement
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum design and review
  • Engage in community partnerships and field education initiatives
Qualifications

Required

  • PhD or DSW, and an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of post-MSW social work practice experience

  • Strong commitment to teaching and social work education

  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and culturally responsive practice

Preferred

  • New Jersey LSW or LCSW license, or eligibility for licensure in New Jersey.

  • Experience teaching at the graduate level

  • Prior involvement in CSWE accreditation, assessment, or curriculum development
