Area Service Manager

VRV, VRF and Connected Services


The Area Service Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the Service Team in delivering superior service and for performing tasks related to the administration, implementation, maintenance and management of the Service Team. This role will be focused on our service teams that support customers with VRV, VRF and the associated equipment and connected systems and services.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.

  • Coordinate with Service Coordinators on all jobs to ensure that correct tech(s) are assigned based on job requirements and demands; ensure jobs are dispatched and delivered as promised.
  • Review service work tickets for follow-up, parts required, and communication with internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Department, Service Coordinators, and Service Technicians to facilitate the acquisition of parts and materials, ensuring expedited delivery.
  • Follow up with Service Coordinators and Service Technicians to confirm that parts, equipment repairs, and installations are scheduled efficiently, ensuring maximum productivity.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure that all required job information is received promptly, facilitating the provision of necessary services, parts, and materials. Communicate with the sales team throughout the startup process and provide the required startup paperwork.
  • Confirm that Service Technicians receive the correct documentation and requirements for each job.
  • Ensure that Service Technicians complete and submit proper documentation to the office on time.
  • Support invoicing to drive accurate billing.
  • Engage with manufacturers in negotiating of labor allowances.
  • Identify field training needs and provide mentorship.
  • Assist with local technical support and collaborate with manufacturers.
  • Provide guidance and development discussions with service technicians with specific subject matter expertise with VRV and VRF and associated products and diagnostic systems.
  • Assist the Director of Safety and safety team with safety implementations and site visits.
  • Assist operations and acquisitions leaders in forecasting current and future hiring needs.
  • Assist sales in building and maintaining a customer base through business meetings, site visits, and informational events.
  • Manage projects, labor, and materials efficiently and effectively.
  • Responsible for supporting financial targets through job development and completion, and participating in departmental financial responsibilities.
  • Work with the supply team to ensure that Havtech parts standards remain competitive.
  • Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises union and non-union employees.

Reports To: Vice President of Service


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires an Associate’s Degree, plus 5 years of experience. A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical or business related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in HVAC required.
  • Experience and knowledge of operation processes associated with the installation and/or service of building automation systems and HVAC systems and subject matter expertise in VRV, VRF and associated equipment and systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with and overseeing union employees is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to multitask and meet both short and long term deadlines.
  • Must be punctual, reliable and able to function and work in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to cope with stress and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to think independently and make decisions exercising good judgment.
  • Ability to travel independently.
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours as necessary.
