Our broad array of equipment and services support every type of railway operator, from major national and international railway systems, to short lines and high-speed urban transit networks.

Job Description

Harsco is looking for an experienced CNC Mechanical and Electrical Technician responsible for performing general and complex repairs on CNC-controlled and PLC-controlled machines. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical expertise, including the ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and electrical schematics. Technically sound, with hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC and manual machines, PLC’S, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Troubleshoot and repair CNC and manual machines, PLCs, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Utilize mechanical (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication) and electrical/electronic (PLCs, AC/DC motors and drives, schematics) knowledge to maintain machine uptime.
  • Inspect electrical equipment, wiring, and fixtures routinely to ensure functionality and compliance with safety codes.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and develop effective maintenance or repair plans.
  • Perform major electrical repairs and installations from 480-volt systems to component level.
  • Test and repair plant electrical systems using voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters.
  • Interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and construction drawings and schematics.
  • Recommend equipment improvements, replacements, and modifications to increase production capacity.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and materials used.
  • Install conduit and electrical wiring for machinery and cranes.
    • Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and costs.
    • Participate actively in safety programs and follow NFPA 70E regulations.
    • Ensure readiness with required tools to perform all assigned duties.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  1. Education
    • (Associate's degree)/2 years of Electrical Trade School.
    • Military Naval/ Air Force Electrical schooling and Training.
    • Must be familiar with standard shop math
  2. Experience
    • 7-10 years of troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC machines with live tooling. .
    • 10+ years’ experience with Haas, Doosan, and/or Mazak machines.
    • 5+ years of general industrial maintenance and repair experience.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Education or Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical maintenance.
  • Relevant electrician certification or license.
  • Familiar with the National Electric Code.
  • Doosan/Mazak/Haas School or Training
  1. Interpersonal Skills
    • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  2. Technical Skills
  • Must have experience using voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required: Microsoft Office.  
  1. Other Skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize.
  • Ability to communicate with others.
