Job Description:

Join our team as a Digital Hardware Engineer and play a critical role in advancing the next generation of embedded digital hardware supporting L3Harris Software Defined Radios (SDR) and accessories. Reporting to a Senior Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the full hardware lifecycle-from conceptualizing high-level requirements to seeing your designs move through manufacturing and into the field. This is an opportunity to solve complex integration challenges within a cross-functional environment, ensuring our communication systems meet the highest performance standards.

Essential Functions:

  • High-Speed Digital Protocols:ย Comprehensive technical knowledge of embedded microprocessor design and integration forย ARM Cores, DDR memory interfaces, and high-bandwidth USB and Ethernet.
  • Design Simulation & Analysis:ย Proficient use of simulation tools such asย LTSpiceย for circuitry,ย HyperLynxย for signal integrity, andย MATLABย for system-level modeling.
  • Advanced Architecture & PCB Design:ย Proven ability to lead the full design cycle-including requirement analysis, schematic capture (usingย Mentor VX/DxDesigner), and complex high-speed layout analysis.
  • Verification & Validation (V&V):ย Expertise in executing subsystem and system-level test plans, using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to identify and resolve critical hardware defects.
  • Compliance & Reliability Engineering:ย Experience designing forย MIL-STD-461ย (EMI/EMC) and adhering to IPC standardsย to ensure hardware survivability in high-reliability environments.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility: Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Education:ย Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience (4+ with a Master's degree) or 10+ years of experience in Digital Design in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Specialized Knowledge:ย Familiarity with SDR architectures, embedded SW/VHDL, and configuration management tools like Agile.
  • SDR & RF Architecture Mastery:ย A nuanced understanding ofย Software Defined Radio (SDR)ย architectures and the interaction between digital boards and RF circuitry.
  • Hardware-Software Integration:ย Experience using embedded software, scripting (e.g.,ย Python), orย VHDLย to automate design analysis and facilitate rapid troubleshooting.
  • Configuration & Lifecycle Management:ย Proficiency withย Agile PLMย software to manage product data and streamline manufacturing introduction.
  • Diagnostic Tool Proficiency:ย Familiarity withย Boundary Scanย tools (JTAG) for testing high-density PCBAs where physical probe access is limited.
  • Systems Thinking:ย The ability to visualize cross-disciplinary impacts, such as how digital design choices affect thermal management or software latency.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $90,500 - ย $168,500 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
