Job Description:
The Role:
Interns will complete a project specific to their skill set and interest. Possible projects could include:
  • Adding features to or enhancing the Chisel language for better design and verification

As an Intern on the Platform Engineering Technologies team, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing cutting-edge tools for System-on-Chip (SoC) design. You will apply your object-oriented or functional programming skills to enhance domain-specific languages for hardware design. You will participate in the open source Chisel (https://www.chisel-lang.org/) and CIRCT (https://github.com/llvm/circt) communities while ensuring that SiFive engineers have the best tools to build and verify advanced RISC-V CPUs, IPs, and SoCs. You will be part of a tight-knit, supportive, challenge-loving team who likes to learn and apply new technologies to change the paradigm of designing custom silicon.
What You Will Learn:
  • You will deepen your functional programming skills in Scala
  • You will contribute to an open source project used in an industry setting
  • You will learn how to take user feedback and improve their experience by improving the tools you provide them

Requirements:
  • Willingness to learn and share
  • Ability to communicate and teach others both inside and outside the company
  • Experience with object oriented or functional programming languages
  • Exposure to hardware design and verification techniques is a plus but not required.

Pay & Benefits
Consistent with SiFive values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline, and our compensation range reflects the cost of labor in the U.S. geographic market based on the location of the role. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant work experience.
For candidates who receive and offer, the starting salary will vary based on various factors including, but not limited to, such qualifications as, skill level, competencies, and work location. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee.
Base Pay Range
$32.40-$39.00
In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for variable/ incentive compensation and/ or equity. In addition, this role is eligible for a comprehensive, competitive benefits package which may include healthcare and retirement plans, paid time off, and more!
