Job description

UNARMED SECURITY OFFICER
Pacific River Security — Vigor Shipyard, Harbor Island, Seattle, WA
Pacific River Security is hiring Unarmed Security Officers to support a federal maritime contract at Vigor Shipyard on Harbor Island. This is an active industrial shipyard performing repair and maintenance work for U.S. Navy and other government vessels. Officers on this contract perform entry control, patrol, and access control duties on a hard-target, access-controlled federal facility — not a commercial property post.
Officers are assigned to fixed posts including Entry Control Points (ECPs) throughout the yard. This role suits candidates who perform well independently, hold themselves to a high standard, and bring a calm, professional presence to long static assignments — including overnight work.
This listing is for unarmed positions only. If you hold an active Washington State Armed Security License, please see our separate Armed Security Officer listing.
SCHEDULE
- 12-hour rotating shifts: Day Shift 0600–1800 or Night Shift 1800–0600
- All posts are staffed 24/7 — reliable attendance and on-time relief are essential
- Officers may occasionally be required to hold over until relief arrives
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Control access to a federal maritime facility and active shipyard worksite
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas
- Report incidents accurately and promptly
- Interact professionally with employees, vendors, and visitors
- Resolve conflicts effectively using de-escalation techniques
- Operate two-way radios, surveillance systems, and access control equipment
- Document activity and complete checkpoint scans via TrackTik
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active Washington State Unarmed Security Guard License
- Able to pass a federal background check
- Must be a U.S. citizen — this is a hard requirement for this federal contract
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) — strong differentiator for this maritime contract
- Prior security experience in access control, patrol, customer service, warehouse, healthcare, or other regulated environments
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and enforcing rules calmly
WHAT WE OFFER
- Steady, full-time hours on a long-term federal contract
- A high-standards site with clear post orders and consistent supervision
- Pathway to armed positions for officers who obtain WA Armed Security licensure
Pacific River Security is an equal opportunity employer.
