Job Title

Promote a culture of excellence through fully implementing all HSEQ programs, demonstrating personal ownership and accountability, and supporting continuous improvement programs

Job Scope/Dimensions

Safely and efficiently operate loaders, haul trucks, and carry out other various duties assigned in the pit operations

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Fully supports YST health, safety, environmental and quality programs (HSEQ) by participating in their implementation, maintenance and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs and policies. Operates trucks and loader in a safe and efficient manner. Operates support equipment to maintain roads, clean benches, push dump areas, sand roads, or accomplish other assigned tasks. Inspects equipment prior to operation, conducts pre-shift inspection, completes appropriate forms, and reports any abnormalities or malfunctions. Maintains accurate records, including daily production tallies, amount of downtime and any other reports that are required for assigned duties. Uses good judgment to ensure that vehicles are operated in accordance with road conditions and designated speed limits. Performs basic preventive maintenance and fuels equipment, as needed. Effectively communicates and coordinates efforts with operators, other pit personnel and plant to ensure a safe and efficient mining operation. Works closely with other equipment operators and maintenance personnel to ensure the highest equipment availability. Performs housekeeping duties, including ensuring that assigned equipment is clean both inside and out. Conducts scheduled area safety inspections on a regular basis. May be required to instruct or assist in the instruction of other personnel; take additional training; and/or assist with the installation, relocation and testing of equipment.

Job Specifications

Education and Experience requirements: High School Diploma or GED One to three years of experience operating shovels, graders, dozers, loaders, and haul trucks Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics: Demonstrated commitment to safety programs and safe work habits Demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner, good communication skills Ability to properly record data and maintain records. Demonstrated ability within 30-day trial period to selectively mine the ore body in order to recover deficit ores, gain highest recovery of ore, and provide the sorting plant with quality crude ore.
