Job description

Material Handler
Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Material Handler to be based out of Hobart, IN. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this person will be responsible for maintaining production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory; delivering production materials and supplies; staging finished products.
What you'll do:
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Safely operate different Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs).
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas.
  • Stack skids, crates or dunnage in designated areas. Clean and dispose of scrap.
  • Manage inventory using scan guns and completing requires transactions.
  • Assist strut welder and production equipment operators when material duties have been completed or idle.
  • Additional warehouse responsibilities as necessary.

What you'll bring:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
  • 1 Year of material handling experience in an industrial environment or equivalent training.
  • Previous experience driving a side-loader forklift is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience handling long products and bundles of material is strongly preferred.
  • Previous forklift experience is required.

Within 3 months, you'll:
  • Safely operate different Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs).
  • Be able to inspect all Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) and report any issues.
  • Be able to safely stack bundles of long products.
  • Sound understanding and practice of Atkore safety rules.
  • Be able to unload and load semi trucks.
