Job description

Are you passionate about plant health, precision growing, and producing high-quality native plants for customers who rely on consistency and performance? Do you enjoy taking ownership of plant production while working in a systems-driven greenhouse environment? If so, this role offers an opportunity to grow your technical expertise and contribute to a plant production operation.
About Us
MNL is a full-service ecological restoration company dedicated to Healing the Earth. Our services include native seed and plant production, shoreline and wetland restoration, prescribed burns, conservation grazing, vegetation management, and ecological consulting. We also support solar and infrastructure projects with pollinator-friendly practices and land stewardship expertise.
Our Greenhouse team produces more than 2 million high-quality native plants for a diverse customer base including e-commerce, wholesale, and commercial clients. We are committed to delivering plants that meet high standards for health, consistency, timing, and presentation.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Greenhouse Grower at our Foley, MN location to support native plant production through all stages of greenhouse operations.
This role combines hands-on plant production with technical ownership and coordination of seasonal staff. You will take responsibility for plant performance, ensuring plants meet standards for quality, uniformity, timing, and customer readiness.
In addition to executing established systems, this role is expected to think critically about plant performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to strengthening greenhouse production practices over time. As trust and expertise grow, there may be opportunities to take on broader technical and team leadership responsibilities based on performance.
What You Will Do
  • Execute production plans to meet plant quality, timing, and inventory goals across customer channels.
  • Take ownership of plant health and performance within assigned greenhouse zones, proactively identifying and addressing issues related to irrigation, fertilizer regiment, pests, disease, or environmental stress.
  • Adjust growing practices to ensure plants meet standards for consistency, vigor, and customer readiness.
  • Document plant movement, losses, and key production observations to support accurate forecasting and scheduling.
  • Provide daily work direction and feedback to seasonal greenhouse staff to ensure plant care standards are consistently met.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe greenhouse and outdoor production areas.
  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor and Data Specialist to align plant performance with production schedules, as well as the Greenhouse Production Lead to ensure a seamless flow of plants through production from beginning to end.

What You Will Need To Be Successful
  • 2+ years of experience in perennial production within a commercial greenhouse setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor plant health and adjust growing practices accordingly required.
  • Experience in manipulating fertigation and IPM regiments to stimulate plant growth and development.
  • Experience in manipulating greenhouse growing conditions with the use of fans, vents, furnaces, shade cloths, etc.
  • Experience in documentation of growing practices in compliance with the Department of Agriculture.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
  • Ability to identify problems early and implement practical solutions independently.
  • Experience in directing a team to assist with plant care.
  • Interest in contributing to continuous improvement of greenhouse systems and practices.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding greenhouse and outdoor conditions.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator License, or ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment (with company assistance).
  • Knowledge of native plants, plant physiology, ecology, or ecological restoration preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate greenhouse equipment (skid steer experience a plus) and hand tools (brush saw hedge trimmer, etc.)

The pay range for this role is:
23.50 - 29 USD per hour (G1)
