Job description

Jerry's Enterprises, Inc. has an outstanding opportunity for a Retail Operations Director. The Director of Retail Operations leads assigned retail banners to drive sales, profitability, and consistent execution of company policies and objectives. This role reports to the VP of Operations and coaches direct reports to build strong teams that deliver excellent customer satisfaction.
Reports To: Vice President of Operations - Jerry's Foods
Location: Corporate Office - Edina, MN
Classification: Full Time Exempt
Rate of pay: $120,000 - $160,000 / year, based on experience
Hours: Monday - Friday with occasional weekend work required

Key responsibilities:
  • Use strong organizational and supervisory skills to lead large teams effectively.
  • Interpret sales, P&L, and labor reports to identify trends, opportunities, and root causes of issues.
  • Drive results by engaging, informing, motivating, and inspiring direct reports to exceed expectations.
  • Develop Store Directors and Assistant Store Directors in all areas of their roles, including problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Set clear expectations and goals and hold direct reports accountable for results.
  • Apply working knowledge of merchandising, procurement procedures, marketing, and mathematics.
  • Support execution of company objectives by clearly communicating expectations to key stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial and strategic reports and recommend appropriate actions or solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between store teams and the broader organization.
  • Build strong relationships and maintain open communication as a trusted resource for direct reports.
  • Partner with Merchandising to share expertise, develop strategies, and influence Store Directors.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, and other corporate teams to strengthen communication and decision-making.
  • Support the long-term profitability and sustainability of Jerry's Enterprises and its banners.

Our ideal candidate has:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Merchandising or retail grocery operations experience required; 5+ years of experience as a retail grocery Store Director or in an equivalent role. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of procurement procedures, economics, marketing, and mathematics, with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills, with the ability to lead large teams and motivate others to deliver results.
  • Ability to provide performance feedback, guide development, support growth initiatives, and manage conflict effectively.
  • Strong verbal, written, and public speaking skills, with the ability to represent the company's interests to outside vendors.
  • Sound judgment and analytical skills to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and thoroughly.
  • Demonstrated integrity aligned with Jerry's Enterprises' high standards.
  • Strong leadership and earns the trust and support of direct reports and peers.
  • Proven collaboration across departments.
  • Strong commitment to training and development.
