Description
?SAIC is seeking an experienced Ground Systems Engineer to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 3 Program Integration (T3PI) program. This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance. This position resides in Chantilly, Virginia.
SAIC is overseeing the Systems Engineering and Integration of the Tranche 3 space vehicle constellations, hundreds of satellites accomplishing multiple mission areas, including missile warning, tracking and defense. We work with the SDA, end users, space vehicle contractors, and ground segment contractors to ensure the architecture, requirements, implementation, integration and testing are executed successfully. Consistent with the SDA's approach, the program will be fast-paced, dynamic, highly exciting and uniquely rewarding for the right candidate.
The T3PI Ground Systems Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Act as Program Integrator Liaison to the Ground Segment development contractor
  • Monitor key interface development, testing, and software deployment and advise the T3PI team and Government Systems Engineering Team on progress
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on ICDs, interface maturation, and inclusion of new interfaces in support of mission closure
  • Identify and assess emerging technical and programmatic risks related to the ground systems and collaborate with system contractor team(s) to develop and evaluate mitigation strategies
  • Support verification, validation, and deployment of ground solutions to operations
  • Support readiness reviews and major program reviews to evaluate ground system readiness

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or information technology and 14 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree and 12 years of relevant experience in development and operation of classified satellite ground systems specifically related to mission planning, management, command and control, data processing and dissemination
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military/civilian personnel and industry partners
  • Ability to facilitate technical discussions with Subject Matter Experts
  • Experienced with fast-paced, space or ground system programs
  • Experience with Cloud-based ground systems deployed in Amazon Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) such as the Secret Commercial Cloud Services (SC2S)
  • Broad technical experience related to cloud operations, DevSecOps, CI/CD, PKI, networks, and interfaces
  • Experience in Agile methods for program management or software development
  • Experience developing and testing software with heavy utilization of REST and ESB, including testing tools such as SoapUI, Fortify, SSH, LoadRunner, Swagger, Parasoft, Fiddler, etc.
  • Experience with space-sector technologies and protocols used for COMSEC, time sync, and communicating with antenna services
