Job description

  • Sagis Diagnostics is an entirely physician-led sub-specialty pathology group supported by a CAP-accredited histology lab located in the heart of Houston, Texas. Led by a team of board-certified pathologists, our lab is at the forefront of diagnostic science. We offer the highest quality services to physicians, physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospitals.

    One of our many strengths is we develop strong collaborative relationships with each of our referring physicians by offering accurate, prompt, and clear diagnoses in a personal and customized manner.

    Sagis is looking for a Part-Time Specimen Collector who will

  • Part Time:  Mondays and Thursdays, 8 am to 4pm & Wednesdays, 8 am to 12 pm. Ability to pick up extra shifts (PRN) on Tuesdays and Fridays, 8 am to 5 pm.

  •  Covering The Woodlands, Katy, Cypress, Tomball, Greenspoint, and Kingwood.

    Facilitate the collection, processing, handling, and shipping of urine and oral fluid specimens
  • Follow policies and procedures to correctly identify the patient
  • Properly label specimens and complete the requisition form via paper or online portal
  • Follow policies and procedures to properly package and ship specimens
  • Demonstrate customer service & compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
  • Communicate with, understand, and react effectively to a diverse patient population base
  • Follow universal precautions and all OSHA standards when handling specimens
  • Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Inform Supervisor of daily tasks, unusual problems or deviations from established procedures
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures of Sagis while working at the physician’s office
  • Pick-up, package and ship the specimens when needed
  • High-school or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of specimen collector experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Proficient in data entry required
  • Urine Drug Screening (UDS) collection experience highly preferred
  • Clean driving record and valid driver license required
  • Reliable mode of transportation required

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clinic/medical office/lab setting
