Job description

Micro Paradox is looking for a Grower to join our greenhouse operations team. Under the direction of the greenhouse management, the Grower independently assists with greenhouse upkeep and maintenance, maintaining health of greenhouse plants, and implementation of SOPs. The Grower understands the direction and goals of the team, and suggests improvements and points out problems they see in greenhouse operations.

Micro Paradox is a specialty plant laboratory that produces disease-free, lab-propagated plants for commercial nurseries across the United States and internationally. Our plants are grown using tissue culture, a propagation method that ensures they are clean, uniform, and true to type.


Micro Paradox offers a unique work environment: a small, highly technical operation where the work is hands-on, our products and services continue to grow and evolve, and the impact of what we produce can be seen in grocery stores and plant nurseries in the United States and beyond.


What You'll Do


  • Follow SOPs and/or verbal or written instructions to perform routine greenhouse work
  • Sort and organize greenhouse crops and lead within a sorting team
  • Inventory and label rolling greenhouse and shadehouse benches
  • Work with the Head Grower to insure fidelity of quality among all outgoing plants
  • Assist the Head Grower in growing and maintain a collection of mothers
  • Assess, interpret, and model growth of crop at various developmental stages
  • Monitor and notify supervisor of potential issues affecting the health and viability of crops, including, but not limited to: malnutrition, pests, weeds, and diseases
  • Apply nutrient sprays and pesticide sprays under the direction of the greenhouse grower
  • Operate various types of equipment, such as HortiMaX controls, Anderson injectors, environmental monitoring systems, greenhouse/shadehouse irrigation control modules
  • Irrigate plants in greenhouse and assist with: weed removal, sanitation, installation of new equipment, and greenhouse maintenance tasks
  • Test and monitor EC and pH of fertigation supply tanks and supply lines, and EC and pH at irrigation nozzles
  • Monitor EC and pH of greenhouse growing medium using pour-through method
  • Ability to set up experiments, record observations, and communicate the status of experiments to supervisors
  • Knowledge of greenhouse equipment, and how to service and fix that equipment
  • Ability to call technical support and troubleshoot equipment when working improperly.

  • Able to use algebra and able to perform calculations involving percentages and decimals
  • Able to work for extended periods in high humidity/high temperature environments
  • Able to lift ≥ 50lbs
  • Works with co-workers to implement improvements
  • Compliant with OSHA respirator fit test requirements


Compensation & Benefits


  • $20.00-22.00/hour, depending on experience
