The Closing and Funding Manager must believe in, practice, and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how they approach their role at Green Brick Partners.
The Closing and Funding Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end mortgage loan closing and funding process within a retail lending environment. This role ensures loans are closed and funded accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements. The manager leads and develops closing and funding staff, drives operational excellence, manages risk, and partners cross-functionally to deliver an exceptional borrower and referral partner experience.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily workflow for loan closing and funding to ensure SLAs and turn times are met.
  • Ensure accurate preparation, review, and execution of closing documents.
  • Manage funding authorization, wire approvals, and conditions related to closing and funding.
  • Resolve complex loan issues and escalations related to documentation or title matters.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Closers and Funders.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct regular reviews, and provide ongoing feedback and training.
  • Identify operational risks, inefficiencies, and bottlenecks; implement process improvements and automation where appropriate.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability:
Utilizes discretion, judgment, and high-level analytical skills to interpret complex situations. Will manage a team of Loan Officers. Oversee and develop the closing and funding staff.
Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.

Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of closing procedures and documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Encompass and other computer skills.
  • Experience working with multiple investors and loan products (Conventional, FHA, VA, etc.)
  • Management or Team Lead Experience preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in mortgage closing and funding.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
