Green Chain workers are laborers in the lumber industry who are responsible for sorting, stacking, and moving lumber as it comes off the sawmill's conveyor system, known as the 'green chain.' The job involves physically demanding work, including lifting and organizing freshly cut, often wet lumber. Green Chain workers help ensure that lumber is properly categorized by size and quality before further processing or shipping. Reliability, teamwork, and the ability to stay focused during repetitive tasks are important soft skills in this role. These skills are essential for ensuring safe, efficient operation and maintaining quality standards in a fast-paced sawmill environment.
