OVERVIEW:
The Print & Textile Designer is responsible for creating production ready print and pattern artwork that effectively represents our Vertical Brands apparel collections. All deliverables should be created in alignment with the assigned brand aesthetic and vision. In this role, the Print & Textile Designer is tasked to define and establish design standards across the assigned brand that ensures consistent representation of the brand standards to the athlete. By staying current on industry trends, the Print & Textile Designer can bring to life the seasonal direction of the assigned brand through storytelling, excellent artwork and a disruptive point of view to their design approach.
The ideal candidate must be a skilled artist with a passion for sport and the athletes we serve. In addition, the ideal candidate has established leadership qualities and is an excellent collaborator. The Print & Textile Design team works closely with our Brand Design, Product Management and Merchant teams. This role is responsible for management of Assistant Print & Textile Designers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Management and Execution
  • Use exceptional design skills to create original, innovative concepts and designs for graphic, print and pattern that accurately reflects the assigned brand's standards.
  • Apply new technologies that bring innovation to designs and applications. Effectively use computerized systems in design process.
  • Align on brand strategies with Senior Designers and Brand Design teams in order to create a holistic narrative for upcoming seasons.
  • Create and maintain design database of product inspirations and idea. Maintain in-house library of all logos and graphic design for all brands.
  • Manage the integrity of the assigned brand by participating in cross-functional meetings with key stakeholders across design, sourcing and product management.
  • Display depth of design knowledge by sharing opportunities for innovation in graphics and print across all levels of the larger Global Merchandising organization, including Sr. Leadership.
  • Communicate and present design concepts in key milestone meetings throughout the development cycle, with an open mind to critique and direction. This includes producing presentation materials in conjunction with design and product management teams that effectively convey the narrative of the seasonal direction of the product line.

Trend Awareness
  • Maintain and continually expand knowledge of current print/textile trends in fashion, color, technology, and sports-related products through travel and research. Act as the subject matter expert in trends with cross functional partners and Assistant Print & Textile Designers by actively participating in brand aesthetic conversations.

Time and Action Calendar Management
  • Prioritize creative product work requests based on the seasonal calendar to meet established deadlines. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of new design executions & ideas by working closely with vendors. This includes demonstrating strong project management and problem solving skills in order to meet deadlines and achieve aesthetic of the brand

Supervising and Developing Talent
  • Manage execution responsibilities and workload of Assistant Print &Textile Designers to achieve department deliverables on-time and with quality.
  • Provides direct reports with timely and regular feedback to support associate development/growth in role.
  • Drive talent selection process for open Assistant Graphic Designers positions; Ensure all new hires are appropriately trained and on-boarded.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Textile Design or related field
  • 5 - 7 Years Experience
  • Previous artwork design experience in the garment industry/fashion, required
  • Strong design skills, including sketching, conceptualization, ideation, color and digital design
  • Ability to communicate, influence and collaborate cross-functionally and across multiple levels in the organization (contributors, managers, directors, VP)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail
