Position Summary
Under the direction of the Art Manager, the Graphics Pre-Press Technician supports label production by preparing customer artwork for direct-to-plate imaging. This role ensures all files are properly pre-flighted, color-managed, and production-ready for flexographic and digital printing.
This is a hands-on, manufacturing-focused Pre-Press role within a fast-paced label printing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive and pre-flight customer artwork files for label production.
  • Review files for trapping, overprinting, resolution, bleeds, barcodes, and color accuracy.
  • Convert files to CMYK and apply color corrections as needed.
  • Prepare files for direct-to-plate output.
  • Generate and review digital proofs for accuracy.
  • Ensure customer approval is received before releasing the plate.
  • Compare final files to job tickets and specifications.
  • Archive completed jobs for future reference.
  • Communicate with Customer Service, and internal teams to resolve file issues.
  • Maintain documentation and job records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and workflow.
  • Stay current with pre-press technology, software, and printing standards.

Education and Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts, Printing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of pre-press experience in a label, packaging, or printing environment preferred.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with flexographic or digital label printing workflows.
  • Proficient with Mac-based design systems.
  • Strong understanding of color management, trapping, imposition, and print tolerances.
  • Close attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to read job tickets and production specifications.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to use measurement tools.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must have close vision, color vision, and ability to focus for detailed work.
