SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting with the operation of Wastewater Treatment Facility and all water utilities. Works with the Wastewater Manager to coordinate operational activities involving equipment used in performing wastewater treatment and laboratory analysis. Assists with water sample collections, meter testing and installation. Assists with monitoring and logging of propane usage and assists with recycling in conjunction with monthly water sample deliveries. Must possess or be able to obtain a Level 1 Water Collection and Distribution License along with a Level I Wastewater Treatment and Collection License (or greater) within 2 years of accepting the position. Must have a goal to progress up to a Level III Wastewater Treatment Operator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. As it relates to the treatment of wastewater and the plant operations:
    1. Must have/be working towards a full understanding of the structures(valves), air blowers, and associated equipment.
    2. Maintains responsibility for all aspects of safety as it relates to the handling, processing and testing of wastewater and culinary water supply.
    3. Assists with the preparation of an annual maintenance schedule which follows the guidelines referred to in the O&M Manual for review by Director of Base Area Operations.
    4. Responsible for landfill disposal of bio-solids once trained.
    5. Assists with emptying and/or coordinating with facilities to ensure all commercial grease traps are maintained on a regular basis.
    6. Assists in the pumping and disposal of all on-mountain portable toilets and vault toilets.
  2. As it relates to monitoring, lab analysis and procedures:
    1. Understands the public's perception of this facility and educates the public about the plant when necessary
    2. Helps the Wastewater Manager prepare reports and collect samples for testing to ensure regulatory compliance.
  3. As it relates to the sewage collection system:
    1. Understands Confined Space Entry.
  4. As it relates to water meters.
    1. Maintains a familiarization with the location and sizes of the various meters
  5. The ability to gain a full understanding of the critical nature of the collection of monthly, quarterly, yearly, and tri-annually water samples and complies with the requirements outlined for sampling while taking samples.
  6. As it relates to the raw water system:
    1. Working towards a full knowledge of the system.
    2. Assists with repairs of service lines.
    3. Working towards an understanding and remains current of the SCADA system.
    4. Working towards an understanding and assists with assigned repairs on the wells, distribution, and storage systems.
    5. Resort Propane: Assists with resort-wide monthly propane reads, monitoring propane levels on all tanks and coordinating refilling of all on-mountain and base area propane tanks.
  7. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Wastewater Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
  1. Protect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
  2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
  5. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
  6. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
  7. Have or acquire at the acceptance of the position the Hepatitis A and B, and Tetanus vaccine.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK SCHEDULE
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license
  • Must have/be working towards a full understanding of the structures (valves), air blowers and associated equipment.
  • Ability to obtain a Level I Water Treatment Certification, Level I Wastewater Treatment Certification (or higher) from Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality within 2 years of accepting the position.
  • Ability to obtain up to Level III Wastewater Treatment within 3-4 years.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to accurately read and make measurements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule forms. Able to accomplish tasks or assignments in a timely manner without supervision by the immediate manager.
