Job description

We're redefining how robots are deployed. Our platform enables users to simulate, test, and optimize entire robotic systems in parallel. By removing the barriers that have kept advanced robotics out of reach for all but the largest players, we're ushering in a new era of manufacturingโ€”one where mass reshoring is not only viable, but inevitable.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering, the Build Infrastructure Engineer will help develop and operate the systems that power our engineering organization. This includes CI/CD infrastructure, developer tooling, build environments, test automation infrastructure, and internal compute systems used by robotics and software teams.

This role is ideal for an early-career engineer or recent graduate interested in infrastructure, developer productivity, automation, and large-scale software systems. You do not need prior experience in every technology we use โ€” we are looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and a desire to learn complex systems.

You will work closely with experienced software, robotics, and platform engineers to improve how software is built, tested, packaged, and deployed across the company. The role includes hands-on work with Linux systems, CI pipelines, Docker environments, Python tooling, and C++ build systems.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on engineering role focused on improving the daily workflow and productivity of development teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and improve CI/CD systems and developer workflows using GitLab CI
  • Help maintain and optimize build and test infrastructure for robotics software
  • Troubleshoot build failures, test instability, infrastructure issues, and developer environment problems
  • Develop automation and internal tooling using Python and scripting languages
  • Support Linux-based development and test systems
  • Work with containerized environments using Docker
  • Assist with C++ build, packaging, and dependency management workflows
  • Support internal compute infrastructure, virtualization systems, and lab environments
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve reliability, performance, and developer productivity
  • Help maintain secure engineering infrastructure practices
  • Support engineering compliance initiatives including SOC 2 and ISO 27001 efforts
  • Evaluate and support developer productivity tools, including AI-assisted development tooling

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong Linux fundamentals
  • Experience programming or scripting in Python or similar languages
  • Familiarity with Git and software development workflows
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in infrastructure, automation, developer tooling, or CI/CD systems
  • Ability to learn complex technical systems quickly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, research, or personal project experience related to infrastructure, DevOps, or systems engineering
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems such as GitLab CI or GitHub Actions
  • Experience working with Docker or containerized development environments
  • Exposure to C++ development workflows or build systems (CMake, Conan, vcpkg, etc.)
  • Experience working in Linux command-line environments
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS
  • Experience with virtualization platforms or homelab-style environments
  • Interest in developer productivity and build optimization
  • Exposure to multi-language development environments (C++, Python, C#, JavaScript)
  • Familiarity with open source software and developer tooling
Location

Boston, MA (Hybrid, in-office required due to on-prem infrastructure)

Benefits

  • Competitive Healthcare Coverage
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Commuting Expenses Covered
  • Telecommunications Stipend
  • 401k Match
  • HSA Employer Contribution
