Job description

Carthage college athletics department is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and supportive environment for student-athletes to excel both academically and athletically. As part of our commitment to holistic development, we are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Assistant Sports Performance coach to join our department. This position is a 2 year commitment that will offer an excellent opportunity for professional growth and hands-on experience working as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for 3-4 athletic teams with the opportunity to assist with other sports.
  • Mentorship/management of student- interns
  • Implement athlete monitoring and data collection to track progress, evaluate performance metrics, and adjust training programs as needed.
  • Provide guidance on nutrition, hydration, and recovery strategies to support athletes' overall health and performance.
  • Assist in the maintenance and organization of strength and conditioning facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient training environment.
  • Collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, and other staff members to support the overall well-being and development of student-athletes.
  • Collect and maintain objective data of KPIs for student athletes/coaches using Titan GPS, Brower timing systems, Force plate technology, Jump mats.
  • Visit with student athlete recruits to discuss the Sport Performance program and philosophy.
  • Adhere to the standards and guidelines of the Sports Performance department set forth by the Director of Sports Performance
  • Other responsibilities to be assigned by staff as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Acceptance into the Carthage College Masters of Education program once the interviewing process has concluded and the position has officially been offered.
  • CSCS or CSCCA certification (required)
  • Strong understanding of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports nutrition principles.
  • Passionate, high energy, hard working, consistent, punctual, professional and reliable.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Preferred Experience working with Titan GPS, Force Plates, Jump Mats, Dashr timing system, Perch & Teambuildr.
  • Previous experience working in a strength and conditioning role, preferably within a collegiate athletics program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and staff members.
  • Up to Date CPR/AED/First Aid certification

Graduate assistant positions include a monthly stipend plus tuition assistance up to full tuition dependent on the program. Employment is contingent upon proof of admission in the Graduate School.
