General Description
The purpose of this position is to assist in the Athletic Media Relations office with home athletic events and publicizing UM athletic events through print, video, photo, social media and various digital media outlets.
Essential Job Duties
  • Contribute original text, photo, and video content for website and social media platforms (e.g., departmental Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Website).
  • Work in an official capacity at home athletic events (e.g., operating scoreboards, compiling statistics, public address, creative content)
  • Write press releases featuring game recaps, individual awards and recognition, and student-athlete profiles as assigned. Serve as the secondary media relations contact for assigned sports.
  • Assist in the supervision of student-workers and interns. Manage creative content student-workers/interns directly and oversee scheduling.
  • Manage and organize all digital media assets, using Flickr.
  • Assist in creative content planning and development. Suggest content idea and social media ideas.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Media Days and various content shoots.
  • Assist with special events as assigned.
  • Assist with day-to-day office duties including, website maintenance, digital programs, record keeping/updates, etc.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and enrollment in a UM graduate degree program.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Must have excellent communication and grammar skills. (Written and verbal.)
  • Possess proficiency with social media platforms. (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Possess proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Possess proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Proficient in creative content strategies and skills. (Shoot planning, video, photo, editing etc.)
  • Be self-directed and motivated.
  • Maintain behavior consistent with being a role model to the UM community.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
