POSITION SCOPE

The Motor Grader Operator is responsible for safely operating a motor grader to perform rough and finish grading on roads, building pads, haul roads, and other heavy civil construction projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Operate a motor grader to grade, level, and shape earth, gravel, and aggregate materials
  • Perform rough and finish grading to project specifications
  • Read grade stakes, site plans, and survey markings
  • Utilize GPS machine control systems when equipped
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
  • Work closely with grade checkers, survey crews, and other operators
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
  • Travel may be required
  • Overnight travel may be required
  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of motor grader operating experience preferred
  • Heavy civil construction or road construction experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Knowledge of grading techniques and grade control
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and grade stakes
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
