Job description

The Associate for GPS Accounting & Initiatives supports projects and initiatives that intersect Accounting, Finance, Technology, and Compliance. This role focuses on strong execution, analytical support, and collaboration with stakeholders to help deliver process improvements and efficiencies and enabling capabilities in a compliance-oriented environment.

Work you'll do

As an Associate, Controllership on the GPS Finance team, you will be responsible for supporting accounting activities and strategic initiatives that span finance, technology, and compliance. Additionally, you will: 

  • Support workstreams for strategic initiatives involving GPS leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to advance team priorities in a compliance-focused environment
  • Process journal entries, accounts payable voucher corrections, and ad hoc requests in coordination with GPS Accounting and GPS OpX teams
  • Prepare analyses, documentation, and supporting materials that facilitate compliance and external reporting requirements
  • Support the design, documentation, and execution of financial processes, analytics, and technology or reporting enhancements tied to new GPS business models, including Products+ and Services+
  • Identify and support process improvements, including template standardization, data quality checks, and recurring reporting activities

The team

Our GPS Finance practice supports engagement teams in defining requirements we sign up to in our contracts. We help to define staffing and other forecast items in as much detail as possible using advanced financial, budgeting, and forecasting techniques. We provide realistic cost estimates that account for engagements' phases and activities, people, materials, hardware, and software and produce the best- and worst-case estimates using leading-edge project and client management software to keep clients' projects on track and on cost.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business discipline
  • 1+ years of advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • 1+ years of experience applying Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools to work tasks, including summarization, synthesis, data interpretation, and content drafting, with validation of outputs and confidentiality considerations
  • Ability to travel 10-15%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Experience with enterprise systems such as Costpoint or SAP
  • Experience with accounting system query tools such as Cognos or Query Studio
  • Experience supporting governance, risk, and compliance activities
  • Experience working in a professional services environment supporting a government contractor
  • Experience analyzing data and developing insights for leadership and stakeholder reporting
  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent initiatives and deliverables
