Job description

Work hard, have fun and make history with Amazon Public Policy. Amazon is seeking a Manager, Public Policy to assist in developing and coordinating fast-moving policy strategy in support of Amazon's commitment to Strive to Be Earth's Best Employer. The Manager, Public Policy will serve in a liaison capacity between Public Policy and multiple business partners. They will develop and execute government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon related to employment and workforce policy at the state & local level. Understanding the big picture, connecting the dots, and diving deep in research will be essential to success in this role. The ideal candidate will be organized, strategic, and have experience leading policy campaigns. This position will work collaboratively with others in public policy and relevant businesses to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. This position will also be responsible for leading engagements with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders. This position will report to the Director, Public Policy and work closely with other public policy team members to execute on strategy.
Key job responsibilities
- Work collaboratively and transparently with the Public Policy team, the business, and legal department to ensure alignment between core business priorities, public policy goals, and coordinate policy issues across state legislatures and regulatory bodies
- Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and initiatives in concert with business objectives
- Anticipate challenges/obstacles as the public policy landscape evolves
- Participate in relevant industry associations
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
A day in the life
You will research and analyze employment and workforce policy developments at the state and local level, connecting the dots between legislative activity and Amazon's business priorities. You will coordinate with others in public policy and relevant businesses to ensure alignment on policy positions, and manage external advocacy efforts and outreach programs. You will lead engagements with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders, and anticipate challenges as the public policy landscape evolves.
About the team
This role sits within the Public Policy team and reports to the Director, Public Policy. The team works collaboratively across public policy, legal, and multiple business partners to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. Team members serve in liaison capacities and work closely together to execute on strategy.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
- 8+ years of experience in public policy, government, or trade associations on relevant topics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery, or experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
- Experience working with public policy stakeholders and managing multiple policy issues.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to interact with senior professionals effectively and comfortably, including policymakers and senior executives.
- Strong understanding of government relations, external advocacy, and communication tactics.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
