Job description

The AstraZeneca Mt. Vernon site was established in 1972 and is the flagship site delivering innovative, life changing oral solid medicines. At the site we formulate and pack OSD tablets and capsules for over 60+ markets. The Mt. Vernon site is complex, the largest AZ production site in the US with over 700+ employees. We are located in the southwest corner of the state of Indiana, approximately 15 miles from Evansville, Indiana – the third largest city in the state. The Mt. Vernon site is both collaborative and Inclusive. Join us as an Associate Director Capital Project Management, where you will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of capital projects. This role is not just about managing projects, but also about strategic collaboration with cross-functional site and global teams to support business operation strategies and improvement opportunities. You will be communicating with global partners to ensure design standards, equipment, Factory of the Future and compliance initiatives are aligned.

Accountabilities:
  • As an Associate Director Capital Project Management, you will lead, direct and manage cross-functional site and global project teams. You will comprehend strategic project requirements and translate those into detailed capital project plans aligned with business initiatives. You will establish strong working relationships with key internal and external customers and demonstrate personal ownership and accountability for results with a focus on customer service. You will proactively identify potential issues and opportunities, develop contingency plans as required, and guide conflict resolution at the project team level.
Essential Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or other related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in conceptual development, project management (planning and scheduling projects), design, and implementation of major capital projects.
  • Hands‑on experience in the negotiation and management of contracts and agreements with engineering contractors, vendors, regulatory, and government agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of validation and qualification principles, project management, and change control principles.
  • Ability to understand and apply financial analyses to make good decisions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in developing and introducing an initiative and gaining subsequent on board and support from different levels within the organization.
  • Direct knowledge in Engineering Standards.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • People leadership
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and related regulatory, engineering, and construction techniques.
  • Professional certifications.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, FDA, and DEA
