Job Title: Software Developer in Test

Job Description

Join an innovative team focused on developing cutting-edge robotic control software within the defense industry. Contribute to the autonomous kit (A-kit) project by ensuring the reliability and performance of our proprietary software suite through advanced testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated unit tests using Google Test and Google Mock for C++ components.
• Design test fixtures and parameterized tests to validate robotic control algorithms under diverse scenarios.
• Integrate Google Test into CI/CD pipelines using CMake and GitLab CI to enable continuous verification.
• Collaborate with software engineers to identify edge cases, failure modes, and regression risks.
• Perform system-level validation of robotic control modules, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Document test plans, procedures, and results for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to test strategy improvements by leveraging modern practices in test-driven development (TDD).

Essential Skills

• Experience in software testing and development.
• Proficiency in Test Automation and frameworks such as Robot or Gtest.
• Strong experience in C++ and Python.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with CMake and GitLab CI.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Test-driven development experience is highly valued.
• Familiarity with test frameworks such as Gtest (Google Test Framework).

Work Environment

The position is on-site, offering the chance to work closely with a dynamic team. The role involves collaborating with software engineers and interacting with various stakeholders to ensure the robustness of our systems. The work environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail, as it supports critical technologies in the defense sector.

This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ottawa,ON.
