Minimum qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in clinical or public health, such as Doctor of Medicine (e.g., MD, DO, MBBS), Registered Nurse (with a DNP, or MPH), PharmD, Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), or relevant PhD.
  • 5 years of experience working in US public sector health (e.g., Federal, State, Local).
  • 5 years of experience in public sector leadership, managing stakeholders and directing initiatives for a government health-based agency.
  • 1 year of experience evaluating/implementing technology in the public health/public sector. (e.g., AI solutions).

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with generative AI/Large Language Models (LLMs), including evaluating outputs, implementation, or launching tech products.
  • Experience deploying or integrating health information technology (HIT) like Electronic Health Records (EHRs), visualization tools, or surveillance systems.
  • Understanding of Federal agencies or State/Local operations, programming and regulations, and public health data-sharing and other constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

About the job
As a Clinical Specialist for the Public Sector, you will be a key expert supporting the implementation, adoption, and support of Google's health-focused tools by our federal, state, and local government partners. You will serve as a primary subject matter expert (SME) for state and local health agencies, helping them understand, integrate, and effectively utilize Google's solutions to meet their specific population health goals.
You will use your deep, on-the-ground experience in public health operations to provide direct consultation, support training efforts, and ensure our tools are delivering real-world value. A critical part of your role will be to proactively engage with state health and human service, public health and other leaders to gather insights, explore use cases and build trust. You will then collaborate across product teams, to inform product, engineering, and research team developments.
You will have experience in state and local public health or public sector operations and comfortable working with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineering, and Partner-Facing teams, to solve complex challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead clinical and public health SME for Federal, State, and Local government entities, providing subject matter expertise to guide governmental health partnerships (e.g., CMS, NIH, ARPA-H, CDC, FDA, state and local public health, state Medicaid).
  • Provide Cross-Product Area (xPA) support to product partners engaged in the public sector including Cloud Public Sector.
  • Translate complex AI research into practical tools for public sector officials, bridging the gap between public sector needs and applied technical research.
  • Act as an internal and external connector between public sector challenges and Google's solutions, building the ecosystem and identifying use cases for AI.
  • Provide thought leadership at national membership conferences and events to foster trust, reputation, and safe AI adoption throughout the US health sector.
